This page is dedicated to all the wonderful critters that have been a part of my life, are at present and those that have not yet crossed my path.

*All the pictures are thumbnails so just click on them for a larger image*

Armani

Steve and I had been talking about getting a kitty for a while and saw the cutest one for adoption at Petco.  We had to take him home!  His full name is Giorgio Armani 3-Button Black Tuxedo, since we want to be silly, but we call him Armani or the miniature cougar.

Spencer

Spencer was adopted from a gal I met from my work at the daycare in Denver.  She thought Spencer would be a lap dog...are you kidding?  Spencer is actually pretty mellow and loves hiking apparently, which is perfect.  September 11th was his first JRT trial/fun day.  He did races, go-to-ground events, etc.  These activities are mainly for fun since I don't think he'll become a champion but I feel it's good to get involved in things that Jacks were bred to do but in a nice controlled environment while meeting other Jack owners!  Spencer is so sweet with people and dogs, though a little weary at first.  He has the Jack Russell tenacity and spunk and I'm so glad he's come into my life!

How pathetic can a little dog look?

The noblest of the terriers, Jack Russells spend their time barking at nothing and driving their owners mad

Jack in a blanket?

Mine bed....

Even in the middle of painting Spencer found a sunspot on the plastic and claimed it, I may have dripped a little paint on him!

Always loving sunspots

Toys are great to chew

My dog is a nutcase

Even a Jack sometimes stops to take in the view

My view of the terrier when we hike, cute huh?

I'm wet, I'm cold, I'm muddy....this isn't fun anymore

Spencer is always there to lend a hand...too bad he doesn't have apposable thumbs

Wanna go outside?

Sanctuary in the middle of the mess

So tired from all his work helping us painted and de-popcorn...wait, what did you do again Spencer?

Spencer enjoying our first snow in the new house

Loki

We got Loki from a breeder up in Monument, Colorado.  He's an Australian Sheperd/border collie mix...a BorderAus...haha!  A trainer at Petsmart mentioned the bi-blue merle is fairly rare, usually they have a little brown on them as well.  We knew he was special, not because of the color but because of his sweet nature.  He and Spencer are getting along well, it's great to see Spencer active again!  I was very sad having a dog that just wanted to lay around instead of run around.  Now that he has Loki he's the entertaining terrier I've always loved!  It's fun to watch them play but Loki is similar to Spencer in that he has times when he just wants to lie down...not too often at least!  I love my playful pups!  Loki turned 1 year old in November 2008!!!

Ma this is my favorite toy!

Loki has a habit if you look at him for too long you have to pay the belly rub toll

Nice cool floor

My carrot Spencer, you have the Whompa

Aw...the rare and elusive puppy cuddle

Spencer don't look so pissed off, that huge bed isn't just for your 17 lb self!

Benny and Nibbler

We have cute little Gerbils!  They are a nice rodent and very active, often during the day as well!  We found two nice little males and within a day the names Benny (black and white) and Nibbler (dove color) seemed to fit the little critters.  Benny is really shy and seems to be a lazy guy, sleeping a lot.  Nibbler is more active but has a habit of Nibbling on the fingers each time he approaches.  He's not biting just tasting but it sure gives Steve and I a jump, we are so scared of having blood drawn again from a little critter.  They have a 20 gallon tank with fun stuff in it, I plan on eventually mimicking their natural habitat, deserts of Mongolia!

Snuggling is fun!

Sniff, sniff...I hope it's safe...

Weee! I like to run, leap and bound!

Benny, stop moving...don't you remember, you're a pillow!

Sniff...is that hand gonna bring me treats again?

Benny perched on a log toy

Nibbler taking a nice long drink, isn't he the cutest?

Benny's close-up, I need to get a macro lens!

Shelob

Shelob is a Chilean Rose Tarantula that I got from a gal who didn't want her anymore.  Fine I'll take a spider even though I'm a little arachnaphobic but big ones are cool.  I named her after the spider in Lord of the Rings (thanks Steve!)...but she's gentle and only attacks crickets.  Isn't she the cutest thing you ever did see?

Do I look fat in this picture?

Do de do, crawling along....

Rrrrrr!!! Nah, I actually fell asleep like this and that weird beige thing took my picture

Hobits taste better than Orc meat, much sweater...Samwise, Sting scares me not!

Oh...damn, I'm hit, Samwise just stabbed me with Sting....light growing dimmer....arge....(Hey spiders can play make-believe too!!)

Shelob's bigger lair with a backdrop of Mordor and Mt. Doom....still with "Shelob's Lair with Samwise and Wrapped up Frodo Playset" as her main decor

Aquatic Pals

Steve completed the 55 gallon tank stand, sans doors for the front but we'll get that later.  I painted the stand and then we set it up and finally got all the decor in.  Galileo was added for a day and then we got four other goldfish.  Each goldfish has about 10 gallons of water to themselves, as it should be.  Galileo is orange now and has been for a year.  Einstein is a calico white, Newton is a black moor, Darwin II is a Red Cap rhukin,  and Kepler is a faster goldfish that is black and orange.  We also still have one Betta, Shavano that I have had since late 2004!!!

Blurry pic but you can see his fat belly from this angle! Too cute!

Newton, the grumpy fish

Einstein is always curious about me shooting pictures, he ends up in most of them!

I tried a longer lense from a distance and ended up getting ZOMBIE FISH! LOL

New fiddler crabs that didn't work with the goldies so we made them their own home

Mac

Mac passed away March 20, 2009. He's been in our family since 1997 and I think he was a least one or two years old when we got him. We buried him in a sunspot in my parents backyard...may he lay in fields of gold (dandelions) forever.  Mac will be sorely missed, he had a special place in my family's hearts.

Mac has passed on across the rainbow bridge.  I hope he is sunbathing in a field of golden dandelions with his old hearty appetite back.  I will miss my buddy that has traveled across country with me, seen me through many moves and also been a companion to my parents during hard times.  Cold blooded he was not, he was warm and affectionate for a lizard and has touched the hearts of my whole family.  We will miss him always.

Trying to morph into a turtle

This is what he thinks about having his picture taken!

Soaking up the warmth

A lizard or a boomerang?

This reminds me of a Garfield comic where the cat talks about how sometimes odd positions are the most comfy

Mac, honestly, that can't be comfortable!
